LET’S WELCOME! Chapin Dimond | Keum Boo: Affordable Gold | Tuesday, February 3, 2026 | 8:00 am – 5:30 pm (one-hour lunch)
$310.00

Chapin is a Colorado native inspired by nature and the magic of metals. In 2003 he discovered the magic of metalsmithing and earned a BFA in Art: Jewelry Design and Metalsmithing from Metropolitan State College of Denver. For many years, Chapin has taught a variety of workshops, making the magic of metalsmithing fun and accessible.
“Swing that hammer, light that torch, and see that magic happen.”
In this class students will learn the basics of Keum-boo.
Beginning with how to prepare the silver so the gold foil sheet can be attached.
Students will have the opportunity to add texture before adding their gold.
Students will make stud earrings, dangle earrings and hoops with the use of keum boo accents.
With the technique of keum boo the possibilities are endless.
“Keum boo is an ancient Korean gilding technique used to apply thin sheets of gold to silver, to make silver-gilt.
Traditionally, this technique is accomplished by first depleting a surface of sterling silver to bring up a thin layer of fine silver.
Then 24k gold foil is applied with heat and pressure to produce a permanent bond.”
