Chapin is a Colorado native inspired by nature and the magic of metals. In 2003 he discovered the magic of metalsmithing and earned a BFA in Art: Jewelry Design and Metalsmithing from Metropolitan State College of Denver. For many years, Chapin has taught a variety of workshops, making the magic of metalsmithing fun and accessible.

“Swing that hammer, light that torch, and see that magic happen.”

Do you want to add a little sparkle to your work?

In this one-day workshop we will focus on technique- with samples.

We will learn and practice flush setting with round faceted CZ set in brass.

We will be using ball burs for flush setting and hart burs for gypsy setting.

After practicing, you will form a copper cuff to flush set stones in.

(Students may bring sterling silver to practice on and make their cuff-optional)

You will have the opportunity to make your own flush setting tools/burnishers, learn how to maintain them, along with other tricks.

We will discuss

common problems and techniques.
