$255.00

Have you always wanted to create your own elegant filigree jewelry pieces?
In this class you will be learning how to make openwork filigree leaves that a center stem into the design and we will be utilizing titanium soldering stencils designed just for this purpose.
In the supply kit, students will receive all the material they need to create both looks but will need to choose either the earrings or the pendant to do in the class.
Each student will receive a free set of three soldering stencils with their supply kit courtesy of Lierre Filigree & Lion Punch Forge (a $40 value).
We will be using Argentium silver for this class that will be prepped for you ahead of time. If you have not worked with this material before, fear not! Michelle will lead you through step by step.
In this class we will cover:
-setting up the stencils for filigree
-whats different about working with Argentium & why do we use it for filigree
-creating the bones of your piece
-making granules (briefly & optional)
-forming and tapering your wires
-creating the filigree curls
-fitting curls together into your design
-soldering several ways
-forming the stems into earring wires or a bail
-shaping and creating dimension without damaging the filigree
-some finishing basics
-what to do if it melts or all falls apart
-troubleshooting as needed
Things we may touch on but won’t necessarily have time to do in class: creating other types of jewelry with these stencil forms, making or prepping filigree wire, using mixed metals and working in gold, adding in tube settings for faceted stones, etc.
NOTE: We will NOT be making filigree wire in this class and our time will be focused primarily on forming and soldering. If you have questions about wire or any other filigree topics, the instructor will be available during lunch and during the last 30 of Q&A, (time willing).
This is a neurodivergent friendly class led by a neurodivergent instructor. Sound blocking headphones and fidgets are perfectly fine. If you have special sensory needs or different learning preferences, please feel free to email the instructor with any questions. We also kindly ask that you not wear any perfume, cologne, or strong scents while attending this class
