Nicole Ringgold | Talismans: melted, sculpted, carved and more | Tuesday, February 1, 2022 | 9:00 am until 4:30 pm

During this one-day workshop, students will learn how to hand fabricate and sculpt organic materials found in nature such as leaves, flowers, branches and insects out of sterling silver sheet, wire and scraps.

Demonstrations will include a multitude of techniques, such as melting, carving, sawing, soldering multiple joints, soldering multiple layers, reticulation, texturing, creating 3-dimensional joints, as well as basic repoussé and chasing.

Students will ideally hand-fabricate a beautiful organic and unique talisman in class that can be used as a pendant if you wish.

Photos depict examples of Nicole’s creations and will be inspiration for your own unique creations in class.

“My art is inspired by a plant I encounter while hiking through the mountains, the shape of a rock I pluck from the river, my natural surroundings, a sound, glimpse, or smell.”
