About this class

Create a collection of beautiful stacking rings while building or renewing confidence in essential metalsmithing skills at the bench.

Kim will introduce you to the tools used in jewelry making and guide you through each step as you transform wire into rings designed to be worn individually or stacked together.

You’ll learn to saw and texture wire, determine proper ring sizing, form and construct your rings, and practice simple soldering, filing, and sanding.

You’ll also learn to set a stone and explore polishing techniques that give your finished pieces a professional look.

Whether you’re curious about metalsmithing and ready to explore the basics or returning to the bench and looking to refresh your skills, you’ll leave with a handcrafted collection of stacking rings—and practical techniques you can continue to build upon in future jewelry projects.

Safety and preparation

Before class
If you would prefer to work in sterling silver, we do encourage you to bring wire from home - 3 inches per ring. You can always purchase from SJ Supply who will once again be onsite with us during our retreat. Mario and his team will also take phone orders ahead and have your materials or tools available at our retreat when you arrive. I will have six sets of class tools to use in the classroom. If you would like to work faster, please consider bringing your own basic hand tools from home.
