About this class

One Piece of Jewelry. Three Ways to Wear It! Why settle for one piece of jewelry when you can create three in one? In this hands-on workshop, we'll put a contemporary twist on the traditional Western bolo tie by creating a versatile piece of jewelry that can be worn three different ways—as a classic bolo tie, an elegant necklace, or a stylish brooch. The secret is in the clever design of the back of the piece! You will learn to fabricate a multifunctional mechanism that allows their jewelry to transition easily between all three styles, combining traditional metalsmithing techniques with a little creative engineering. Using a cabochon and bezel of your choosing, you will design and fabricate a distinctive centerpiece, adding your own decorative elements, textures, and personal touches. We'll explore the construction of the bolo slide mechanism, the integration of a brooch pin, and the design considerations that make this convertible jewelry both functional and attractive. The result is a unique, handcrafted piece that moves effortlessly from Western casual to contemporary elegance.
