Sarah Long | Pandora’s Box: hollow form beads | Monday, January 30, 2023 | 9:00 am until 4:30 pm

$195.00

A study of the bead as a simple hollow form. We start basic and build layers and texture, creating beads that have individual interest as well as a cohesive grouping for wear. We’ll turn one of these beads into a focal charm. Note that your beads do not have to be star-themed.

Techniques include texturing and stamping, using dapping block, creating a hollow form, sweat soldering and multi-step soldering of layers and finish work.

These skills can be applied in your home studio, even if you have a minimal soldering set up and lack fancy tools. I will show my favorite low-tech finishing methods, as well as touch on using a flex shaft.

You will walk out of the class with several newly crafted beads for your wrist or the beginning of a stunning piece of neckwear.
