WE ARE GLAD TO WELCOME…Bette Barnett | Light & Shadow: Keum Boo On Etched Metal | Thursday, February 5, 2026 | 8:00 am until 5:00 pm (1-hour lunch)

$290.00

In this one-day workshop, you will learn to create richly textured steel surfaces through electro-etching steel, using a variety of non-traditional resists including rubber cement, dry transfers and embossing ink/powder, to produce bold, dimensional patterns.

Once etched, the steel becomes a dramatic canvas for the ancient Korean technique of Keum Boo.

During the class, you will apply both gold and silver foil to the etched steel, allowing the reflective metals to interact with the raised and recessed areas creating a striking play of light and shadow.

The result: luminous, high-impact surfaces that blend texture and refinement.

While the class focuses on techniques, you will also be guided in the creation of an etched cuff with Keum Boo.
