Discover how the use of encaustic wax can take your collage art to the next level through an examination of layers.
From those that lie under the wax, to those that create the surface design of the piece, and everything in between.
Encaustic wax will give your paper collage design a depth and luminosity impossible to achieve with any other medium.
Techniques in painting with encaustic wax medium will be covered for those who are new or need a refresher to using the medium.
Techniques to include basic application, fusing, adhering paper elements, bonding, layering papers, incising surface designs, creating texture on the surface through imprinting and accretion, adding color and marking on wax, embedding small objects, transfers.
WE WILL RELEASE SEATS FOR PURCHASE THE MORNING OF REGISTRATION.

Collage Fodder: bring your personal collection of papers for collage– such as handmade or collected decorative papers, gel print papers, ephemera, magazine, and text pages, salvaged books and book parts, lightweight textiles, packaging materials, etc. *Note: Typically gloss papers or those with heavily applied acrylic paints on the surface are not compatible with encaustic wax.
