In this class we will create a 2-part clasp consisting of an outside 2-layered component with a channel in between the layers on one end of a chain.
The other end of the chain connects to an insert (a key) that fits into a in either the top or bottom layer and is then rotated between the 2 layers to secure it in the locked position.
While this project can be made with just sterling silver sheet and 14-gauge square wire, participants are welcome to bring a variety of gemstones (particularly cabochons), items like broomstick or water castings, other small components/castings, patterned sheet or decorative wire, etc. – anything you might like to include.
*you are welcome to fabricate your project in either brass or sterling silver. You’re invited to bring your own supply from home, or SJ Jewelry Supply will have all the metals available, either by advance order or onsite purchase at our retreat.
