BOUND + SOLDERED SHRINE BOOKMAKING WORKSHOP
While visiting old cathedrals in Europe, I was fascinated by the ancient relics that were encased in glass shrines.
Small, common objects were elevated to cherished treasures when placed under glass.
These sacred displays are the inspiration for what we’ll be creating ~ a tiny showcase for a special personal object or collection (like the mini antique buttons handed down from my grandma).
Your shrine will be soldered under a thick piece of beveled glass & encased in a textured plaster frame.
This workshop will include a variety of fun techniques!
You’ll be learning to layer plaster & paint finishing to create the ancient looking book covers, simple soldering to craft your shrine, book binding & paper aging, along with assemblage instruction and meaningful embellishment guidance.
The finished Shrine Book will be the perfect place to hold your old photos, memories & mementos!

The items in the supply list are suggestions for what you can pull from your own stash to personalize your book. I love adding tiny details that have meaning or represent people that I love.
