Spend five days with Ace McCasland in an artist-in-residency setting. A limited engagement, you will be one of the lucky ones who gets Ace all to yourself for five days of instruction (well, you and no more than eleven of your closest Vivi Magoo sisters and brothers!

Movement. Texture. Fire.

Things that make life interesting.
Movement not only in action, but also as implied or suggested by design.
Texture, because the road is not always smooth, we must embrace the bumps and potholes and imperfections that are inevitable in this raw and raggedy life.
Fire, because it is an extremely versatile tool in metalsmithing.
In this five day focused intensive, we will explore a variety of out-of-the-box techniques for an array of textures, from torch-tortured to hammer smashed to twiggy and twisted. We will experiment with ways of combining, fusing, even water casting silver to add organic textural elements to our creations. We will investigate many unusual, unexpected ways to approach adding movement to our work, be it through hinges, conventional and unconventional, or visual suggestion.  Throughout this workshop, I will also introduce many principles of design to guide you towards making  intentional choices in the direction of your work.  You will have time to explore and integrate your experiments into a variety of completed pieces by the end of the session
