Sarah Long (Brown-Dog Studio) | A Charming Evening with Sarah | Tuesday, February 6, 2024 | 6 pm – 9 pm

$105.00

Shot plate impression dies are a great way to add design interest to your work, as well as use scrap silver leftover from other projects.

Are you wondering about how to get started? Having trouble getting good impressions with the ones you have? How do you figure out how much silver to use for each little impression? Maybe you want to play with some and see how to use the finished pieces before making the investment.

We’ll begin our evening with a few demos that prepare us to jump into melting and hammering silver into oodles of little stampings using shot plate dies! I’ll show you how to clean them up and create little charms with several of your favorites.  A little know-how and extra finish-work really elevates the quality of these great additions to your jewelry.

Extra demos and supplies for a stack ring option and post earrings that use the stampings, too! I’ll also have multiple jewelry samples from my studio that incorporate shot plate impressions.

It looks like this is a very popular class and has sold out!

Additional Class Comments
  • I will have very reasonably priced “mini kits” for students who want to create the extra projects I will be doing as demos…a stack ring and stud earrings, both of which are great ways to use shot plate impressions! Otherwise, you are welcome to just keep melting and hammering away to make little charms or have little impressions to take home to play with!
  • I will have my personal (favorite) shot plates and 2 hammers like I use for the plates. I welcome you to bring random, additional shot plates (not press dies!) for this class, because I hope to devote some class time for trouble-shooting different shot plates! More info will come in a pre-class email. Feel free to message me in advance of class if you have questions about this!
